~ The Royal Birthday Party

On Saturday, we celebrated Mercedes' 1st Birthday again by having a Princess Birthday Party! Since this last month's weekends have been so eventful with Brody's wrestling schedule, we were unable to throw her a birthday party the weekend of her actual birthday, or any other weekend closer to her actual birthday for that matter!! Birthdays are a very special celebration that everyone should be thankful for and proud of and we are very thankful for being able to celebrate Mercedes 1st birthday! It represents so much more than just turning 1! We love our presious angel and I thank God for her and for my Brody everyday! They are such a blessing and JC & I want them to know how proud we are of them and how much we love them!
We celebrated Mercedes birthday with a Princess party because after all she is our lil' princess :) My mom made her dress, which turned out absolutely stunning! It was nothing short of perfection and she looked just like a princess! I made her a 3-tiered cake...MY 1ST EVER!! I was so proud of it! I thought for sure it would have tasted awful, or that it would fall apart or something would happened where it would become a complete disaster and just another one of my attempts to be creative where all goes wrong! Thankfully it turned out perfect (well maybe not perfect, but perfect for one of my baking/decorating projects)! Now I can't take 100% of the credit, Mary did help me decorate the cake! She decorated the top and middle tier...so she did an excellent job too :)
Mercedes sat on her thrown (yes I got her a thrown) while she opened her gifts. She got lots of cute clothes and fun toys!! Then we changed her so that she could eat her cake. She was so girly about it! She would stick her finger in it and lick her finger, there was no grabbing handfuls of cake and stuffing it in her mouth...she handled it like a lil' lady! We also had a pinata which of course I did this more for the older kids...they always enjoy smashing a pinata, ya really have to have one at every party :)
Overall, her 1st birthday party was so much fun and she really enjoy all of her friends and family that joined her for this celebration!
