~ Well, Here It Is...

JC and I successfully completed a 22 hour drive saturday in less than favorable driving weather conditions to bring this vehicle home! We left town Saturday morning at 3am. The vehicle was in Albuquerque and since the weather reports were talking bad roads over Red Mountain Pass we opted to take the long route through Utah. Our Drive there was actually pretty decent and fairly smooth sailing, only hitting a little bit of snow and foggy spots through Utah. The drive back was fairly smooth sailing right up until we entered Cortez where we stopped to take a brake and check on an alternate route. Once we left Cortez, we realized we took a wrong turn somewhere and that we had driven 20 miles in the wrong direction (road signs were covered in snow so we were wingin' it)! So we lost about and hours worth of drivetime having to go back to Cortez and find the correct highway. As soon as we left Cortez for the second time, the snow just blanketed us, instantly covering the roads creating a "White Out"! The car I was driving was only front wheel drive, so I had to stay in low gears to keep from sliding around. At this point we were only going 20-30 miles an hour all the way to Monticello. Once we got to Monticello, we took a brake again. By the time we got back on the road, snow plows had cleared most of the snow from the roads, but the tradeoff was now icy road conditions! From Monticello to Moab, we battle snowfall and icy roads, but we were able to go a little faster than before! Once we finally got onto I-70, it was pretty much home free! Wet roads, windy and cold as HE%$ from I-70 to home! All that for this vehicle...I know it's a long way to travel for a vehicle, but we got it for such a great deal I couldn't ignore it. Believe me I tried to find another vehicle closer to us, but struggled to find one that offered what this one does!
It was an interesting, exciting adventure for JC and I, but we are still exhausted from it. Thankfully we knew better and didn't bring the kiddos, that would have been an even greater unimaginable nightmare! As far as the vehicle goes, it's amazing. We are so happy with it and loving it so far. Well worth the trip and the driving experience!
